Salam alaykum!
It’s that time of the month where I update all you lovely seekers on the amazing new things I’ve been loving the past month.
This particular month is very special to me. Since I began this series I must say the picks for this month are the dearest to my heart thus far and I am super excited to share them with you guys.
So without further ado, let’s dive right into the things I’ve been loving the past month!
Honest Tea Talk YouTube Channel. I honestly can’t remember how I stumbled upon this channel on YouTube but it’s my best discovery this month. The Honest Tea Talk is a show inspired by the Red Table Talk where 3 Muslim women, Aliyah (British Nigerian) Layinka (Nigerian) and Sumayah (Somali) get together and have honest conversations about the things we desperately need to talk about, as women and as an ummah. It’s raw, it’s real, at times heavy, but always profoundly important. What I love the most about the show is how authentic the three sisters are and how their individual personalities & mindsets shine through in each episode. Each sister has a different personality and approach to things but I could honestly relate with all three of them. Absolutely LOVE them. I cannot wait for the 11th episode to air.

CartoonHD App. This is a street app that one of my colleagues shared with me and I must say it’s the best gift anyone could give someone to strengthen their love for movies & TV-shows. New HD movies and Tv shows are uploaded on the App everyday. Guys it’s FREE and in HD. Goodbye Netflix. Goodbye Amazon Prime. The ads on the app are almost non-existent and if you have a really good internet access, you can watch and download your favorite shows and movie with so much ease. God bless the creators and my colleague for sharing the app with me. For those of you who do not understand what I mean by street app, it basically means you won’t find it on android playstore or the apple app store. My colleague got it from a friend, who also got it from a friend and so on.

EDx. This is an app/ website that allows you to access free online courses from top universities including Harvard, MIT and more. During my free time I take an online course that I am interested in, and is being offered by some of these universities and I must say I’ve gained a lot of skills, grown and learnt so much since the start of the month. If you wish to be certified in your selected course, payment must be made at the beginning of the course and you must pass the test and coursework given at the end of the course. The EDX certificate is universally acknowledged. As someone that is extremely passionate about self development and learning new things you have no either the amount of joy this app brings me.

Maubby’s Salad. On one particular day I was craving salad really badly and the only place I could think of that served good salad was Tulip Bistro, but my sister recommended I try another place; Maubby’s Salad. As someone that loves trying new things I decided why not; even though I was starving that day and would’ve been really upset if their salad wasn’t any good. After trying their salad for the first time, I couldn’t stop talking about it at home and to my colleagues at work; you would think I was their Brand Ambassador. Jokes aside, Maubby’s Salad is the best in Abuja. Whenever I visit their store I always go for the create your salad option, which gives you the option of selecting 10 toppings with one protein of choice. The toppings I usually opt for in my salad are: lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, eggs, potatoes, mango, croutons, sweet corn, quinoa, honey & spicy chicken with their house salad cream. Their salad is delicious, the quantity is extremely generous and the price cheap! I’m not going to mention the number of times I’ve been to their store this month; it’s becoming unhealthy for my purse.

The Handmaid’s Tale. The Handmaid’s Tale is a show I recently started watching and I’ve been hooked on it for all the right reasons. It’s a BRILLIANT show with an outstanding cast that does incredibly well in driving each of their character’s narrative. What I love most about this show is how well it captures the greatest strengths & weakness that is inbred in every human…the lengths some of us will go through just to survive in a messed up society and the things we turn to for comfort at the times of despair and misery. The show is deeply moving and deliciously addictive. I hate that I’m up to date on the series and have to wait every week for a new episode to air. I don’t want to spoil the show for those of you that may wish to see it but the summary is basically that the main characters live in Gilead, a totalitarian society in what used to be part of the United States. Gilead is ruled by a fundamentalist regime that treats women as property of the state, and is faced with environmental disasters and a plummeting birth rate. In a desperate attempt to repopulate the world, the few remaining fertile women are forced into sexual servitude with their respective commanders (the head of the households they are forced to live in). One of these women, Offred, is determined to survive the terrifying world she lives in, and find the daughter that was taken from her.

Halal Foodie. The Halal Foodie is an account I created on Instagram and the page is dedicated to sharing all my personal reviews of the halal restaurants I have visited in the past, as well as publishing mouth watering recipes that people can treat their loved ones with. I contemplated for a long time whether or not I should create a separate account to share my restaurant reviews and food photography or whether I should post them on my personal page. I decided I did not want to flood my personal page and timeline with food reviews and food pictures and boy am I really happy and proud I took that initiative.

That brings us to an end of the things I’ve been loving for the past month; I’d love to hear the things you’ve been loving as well!
I’ll catch you in my next post In Sha Allah x
Ma Salam!
